Click HERE to give feedback. I know lots of you have looked over the animation 100 times over the week end. Add any fixes. Some will be obvious, put what ever you want to see changed and we'll see what we can do.
Thanks

Senior Showcase
These are the videos I took at the Senior Showcase. I like the second one because it is the first audience reaction we have seen. From it, it has made me think a lot about the ending. They need that last laugh. I think we need to try and get the Plan A animation in place there(were the bird is missing one of her eggs then finds it). Also I think there are a few editing things we could to to help emphasize different areas though out the film. We'll talk Monday. Have a happy Easter!

New Smoke - Full Render
Set this to render last night and this is what I got. See it in 720 HD. I didn't do it in 1080 to save on render time.

Smoke Final?
Let me know if this works. I tweaked the opacity so his face doesn't get too obscured and then at the tail end I bring the smoke further down anticipating the smoke being around his waist for the next shot. I'm going to cache this and put in the fire in the fireplace - unless there are any major changes you want me to do I'm gonna stop here. I'll put all this on the server when I come in tomorrow. Also, here's a render - I'm going to try to do some more tonight so we can see better exactly what this is going to look like.
Finish what you've got
We are going to push really hard to get done for siggraph this week. We need everything done by Tuesday or Wednesday at the very latest. All animation, smoke, explosions, fire, rain, eggs, etc. Also I'm finishing the credits so if you still want credit add your name to that google doc file i created.
Thanks

Matte Techdemo
Hey guys!
Those Matte paintings are coming along! I will be up all night again to get things finished.
Now, I am headed off to Vegas here tomorrow at about 3 PM for the NAB convention. I will be back Wednesday night. I am going to run these files over to Aaron tomorrow before I leave, for I foresee that there might need to be a couple of corrections to them.
The convention closes every night at 6:00 in which I will either be at my hotel or McDonald's (free internet :D ) from that point on. I will have Photoshop and AE with me on my laptop with a tablet. If you need anything in particular, please send a Text asap (801 368 8282)
My dropbox is FULL so I took Abel's suggestions and I just opened another one (one of these days I will pay for one of those accounts..) I would like to get a couple of people's e-mails addresses who will have access to the school servers that can take the files for the Matte paintings, etc. and post them up for me.
And, Friday morning I took a matte, threw it into AE, and tested it to get a feel of how the layers were going to work etc.
Video one: simple effects
simple camera pull in with the matte on 3D layers
Video two: The Layers
Just to give you a feel as to what this thing really looks like
Video three: Evolving clouds
Used the liquify tool to add VERY SUBTLE cloud flourishes so that none of the layers are stagnate. this video should feel most comfortable on the eyes. If you want to see why, rip the vid from youtube and scrub the timeline in Quicktime.
Again, please comment with a couple of e-mail addresses that I can add to the Dropbox folder so I can make any needed updates to these files while I am out of town / get them to you in the first place!

Leonard Returns!

Latest Smoke
Fixed the wall penetration. Still working out the opacity issue - haven't found the right input bias value yet.
Leonard Learned a New Trick
Getting Close With Smoke
It's taken a lot of tweaking but I think I'm getting closer. This smoke is ridiculously hard to finesse and the colliders don't want to work. Let me know if this will work or if I need to change it more.

Smoke Being Uncooperative
So for some reason my colliders are attracting the smoke rather than pushing them away. I had a similar problem with the last smoke scene. I'll have to scrap my colliders and rebuild them in the morning. But here's what I've got right now.
Even Newer Explosion
Tweaked this version so it goes faster and doesn't look quite as cloudy at the end. Upped the dissipation by a lot.

Finally Working Smoke!
Finally got the smoke to work without obscuring the camera. And I've also added the fireplace fire. I've got this version saved. I'm going to try making Leonard a collider as a final touch but if that doesn't work this version will still work. (Also note that even though there's ghosting between the two smoke layers in the playblast it doesn't actually render that way.)

Water dripping in Pales
Here is a drip in a pale using a pond emitter. It took just a few seconds to render...

Scene 3-3 Lightning
These are still the temp placements for the clouds, as this set of clouds have not been completed yet (I will be posting the cloud collections as soon as all are compiled, then I will finish cleaning them. I anticipate by Saturday or Sunday for these.) I will animate all clouds for the scenes properly using 3D cameras in AE.
These files, The .Mov, .psd, and .aep are on the server. import the aep file into the rendered comp, resize and lineup. Then delete the parts of the file you don't need.
Huh, the forking did not quite render the same as in the file. there is a little too much bulk to that lightning, but if you check the files, all are correct there.

More Smoke
Upped the res on the scene with the smoke filling the room and made it so it filled more of the room. Having a hard time finding balance between too much and not enough smoke obscuring Leonard at the end there.
First Playblast of Smoke Filling Room
Here's a playblast of the smoke filling the room. It's still a really low resolution here. Hopefully the flickering effect will go away with upping the resolution.
