I feel like it "breaks apart" too late after impact. Also, I feel like parts of the glass would continue to fall down after shattering, rather than bounce back up and then shatter. Here's a video showing a falling wine glass. http://youtu.be/qsai-8WjWn4
ReplyDeleteUpon impact, the bulk of the glass continues towards the floor, and then bounces up, but it's not the "breaking apart" that makes it change direction, it's hitting the floor/table, that makes it bounce. Beyond that, though, it rocks.
Thanks for the feedback. I did see that reference video. On my last update, I tried to model the break after that video http://youtu.be/Ugasg3si0O0.
ReplyDeleteIf you go to minute 1:29 in Nuit Blanche you'll see that the wine glass bounces and rotates forward, only shattering when the bulb contacts the table while the stem remains intact, which is what I was going for in this shot.
You are right. The base hits first, then the top of the glass hits and shatters. I think from this angle, I didn't realize your glass wasn't hitting flat on the table. It makes more sense now. Great job!
ReplyDeleteThe shatter looks really good. I like how it doesn't break until the upper part of the glass hits the table.
