Latest Rough Comp

Here's the latest composition, I worked on the last scene. Could I ask everybody to render out a copy of what they have so I can put a comp together that is as up to date as possible?

Gunshot--Shot 14

Here's the latest version of shot 14. Please let me know what I can do to make it look more realistic.  I moved all of the animation to the end, since the next shot follows the bullet.  Please let me know what you think. EDIT--After watching a few times, and getting some feedback, I'm going to redo it again and try to add a few things. --Namely having the gun move upward.

Also--I've started working on analyzing Nuit Blanche's camera movements so that I can match them to ours. I assume I'm still supposed to be working on that...If someone else has already started please let me know so I don't step on anyone's toes.

Things we need to film

Here's the shots we need to film

Anthony- getting hit by horse, full body
Anthony - Stepping in real poop - Will lay down green poster board to put "poop" on.

Wagon Rider - (Shot from front and side) - Looking straight ahead holding ROPE. Looks to left, sees pretty girl. Hears gun shot, and reacts by cowering, then bailing to his left off of wagon.

Main Woman - hand re-dropping glass. Needs to stay in focus.

-------------------------All Other Extras------------------------

RESTAURANT SIDE EXTRAS

* Woman walks down street with her 3-4 year old son trailing behind. She's holding a burlap sack of flour. He's playing with a stick. They walk from camera left to camera

right.

* Man riding horse from camera right to camera left

* Couple walking down street together

* 2 people walking left to right & 2 people right to left.

SALOON SIDE EXTRAS

* Burly man on 2nd floor of saloon inside, tries to wrestle a kiss from a Saloon Can-Can Dancer. She slaps him, is taken aback, then with new anger comes at her while she backs away.

* Man outside on 2nd floor leans on railing. Rolls a cigarette. Puts in mouth, lights up, then walks off to his left (camera right) puffing.

*2 people sitting in stage coach talking. Lighting will be indirect. * Man driving stage coach. (should probably travel from camera left to right, so we can have them off camera quickly. But for variance, could have travel from right to left?)

* upper half of man walking from camera right to left putting on his hat. looking slighting down in front of him.

* upper half of man walking from camera left to right smoking a pipe/cigar/cigarette. looking slightly down in front of him.

* People sitting in saloon. Person walking in saloon.

* 2 people walking left to right & 2 people right to left.

TOWARDS EAGLE GATE EXTRAS (Looking down Road)

* Same woman with flour and son with stick are crossing the street diagonally from lower camera left, to upper camera right.

* Man walking down street towards camera

* Man walking up street away from camera

* Person walking down sidewalk towards camera.

Rough Composite_3 & Shot extensions

Here's the latest animatic, and I've also listed which shots are too short and how much they need to be extended by. (I'll add these notes to the google doc). I rounded up the amount of time so we have extra footage rather than to the frame.

Shot 1: 9 seconds (onto the front)
Shot 2: 1 second (really 3-5 frames)
Shot 3: 1 second (5-10 frames)
Shot 6: 2 seconds
Shot 9: 2 seconds
Shot 16: 4 seconds
Shot 17: 3 seconds
Shot 20: 3 seconds
Shot 26: Made realtime, reduced to 5 seconds (to match nuit blanche)

Table top is awful and the perspective is off

VFS & VFX

If you're looking for inspiration and some healthy competition, type in "VFS" and "VFX" into youtube. The Vancouver Film School does it the right way. Check out the breakdown, and you'll see the level of plussing we need for cowboy.

Crow shoot

I will be filming the crow tomorrow (Mon 11/7) at 10am in SLC at Tracy Aviary, just in case anyone wanted to be involved.

UPDATE - So it turns out birds are afraid of green screens. So I had to move the screen way far back, and ditch my lights. I got some shots, but we had to go through 1 crow and 2 vultures before we got anything that looked remotely usable. So I might have a vulture shot we can use. I'll go through the footage and see if any of it is usable.

Barrel Splode

Felt the Barrel needed more lateral movement as it explodes. It's not as impressive vertically as the one I showed in class today but I think this might be better overall?

Rough Composite_2

Here's a side by side of what we have so far. Feel free to leave any notes in the comments. I'll move the nuit blanche vid to upper or lower left for the next rough composite.

Upload yer scenes and assets to the server!

Cowboys and Cowgirls,

Please upload your scenes and assets to the server. Your work is only valuable to the project if it's been uploaded and shared with the group. Even the best modeled poop in the world is worthless crap if it stays on yo' mamma's computer at home. Yes, I said "yo mamma." So please please PLEASE cover your assets and upload 'em!

Thank you.

Shot 24

The first video matches the timing of nuit blanche, but I think the second one works better. Since it's the last scene does it matter if ours goes a little longer?

Shot 14 with horse

Shot 19 - Brent Seavers

Added sky, dirt, reflection, depth in Saloon, Shadow, re-masked driver, and super duper sparkly niceness. Still need to animate shadow, and add more shadow layers. And need to fix Wheels, both motion and cropping.

Compiling Shots

Hey everybody, I'm working on getting all the shots into one After Effects file. When you get the chance, could you save a copy of what your working on to the server where you got the original shot files? Just save it as "Shot_x_new" or something so I know which are the newer versions. Thanks.

Shot 2 - Newest Table

Do the shadows of the table/chair and the roof match up? Is the sun shining from the top-right of the screen or more from the direction of the street?

Wine Glass Shatter ver .3

Wine glass shatter version 2a - I applied the glass texture just to see what it would look like, I didn't have time to render the whole thing?

Wine Glass version 3.

Shot 2 - New table, new positioning of objects

3rd Gunshot Attempt, More Reflections

Thomas Giles - Comparison Movie, Storyboards/Animatics, and More Spit

I made this 'picture in a picture' movie for my own benefit to see how the shots compare and to get an idea of the timing.  Thought it might be useful to others.

An idea for the scene where the bullet hits the wagon.

And last but not least, More Spit!

I think it still needs more. And it needs to disperse more.
